The show promises to be a happy, high-spirited, foot-stomping romp.

BYE BYE BIRDIE

A musical Comedy Ÿ Book by Michael Stewart Ÿ Music by Charles Strouse

Lyrics by Lee Adams Ÿ Originally Produced by Edward Padula

August 7, 8, 9 2008 Ÿ 8:00 p.m.

August 10, 2008 Ÿ 3:00 p.m.

Bye Bye Birdie  is one of the most captivating musical shows of out time. It tells the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. The singer, Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, finds himself drafted. Albert Peterson, his agent, a very pleasant mild mannered young man and Rose Grant, Albert’s faithful secretary concoct one final national publicity plan before Conrad’s induction. Conrad will bid a typical American teenage girl goodbye with an all-American kiss. The show re-lives the fifties as young people go crazy, parents worry, and Rosie tries to get Albert to marry her. The show is a satire done with the fondest affections. With lots of imagination and frivolity, memorable hits like, The Telephone Hour, One Last Kiss, Spanish Rose, A Lot of Livin’ to Do and Put on a Happy Face will keep you smiling through the production

Little Red and the Hoods

By Karen Boettcher-Tate

This delightful tale of Little Red Riding Hood is told with modern lessons for today’s children. As the story goes, Little Red is taking cookies to her grandmother when she encounters Harry Wolf. Harry works for the notorious gang leader, Ma Sugar Lump, and wants to steal the recipe to the cookies. The pack of meanies can then bake more cookies, sell them to others and become rich! Fortunately, their plot fails. The play teaches its young audiences about not judging people by their looks, how to protect themselves from strangers and the importance of reading. There is plenty of audience participation making the show both fun and educational.

Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and all of the Whos of Whoville. The music is a combination of Latin to pop, swing to Gospel, and R & B to funk…so let your toes tap, your fingers snap and your imagination run wild.

The Story of Center Stage Productions

Dedicated to the love of theater, music, and dance, a group of teachers formed the Chichester Community Theater in 1984.  Renamed in 1990, "Center Stage Productions" is an independent, self-supporting organization working to enhance the role of the love of theater in the community.  We seek to make the theater experience an educational, enlightening, enjoyable event.

Our workshops and productions are open to anyone interested in some aspect of the performing arts.  In addition, we offer several special events every year - field trips, concerts, plays - to our members at nominal cost.  Our goal is to offer social development and performing arts skills through theater related activities.   Students learn to sing, dance, act, and relate to peers and adults while producing excellent musical and dramatic productions.
